The Davy Back Tournament allows for players to organically create crews and battle until one captain comes out on top. Crews will face off, with winning crews absorbing losing crews until only one crew remains.
In the first round, all players are captains. Players will be randomly paired for 30 minute best-of-one games. The loser of each game becomes crew to their opponent. The winner declares the name of their crew, and, optionally, reveals their Jolly Roger.
In subsequent rounds, captains will be randomly paired. The captains of each crew will roll dice to determine who has advantage.
Each captain will then volunteer their crew into pairings. The captain with advantage always chooses second. The paired crew, as well as the paired captains, will then play 30 minute best-of-one games, with each win earning a single point for their team (captains score two points).
At the end of the round, the captain/crew with the least points becomes crew to their opponent captain.
After the final round, only one captain remains - and all other competitors are in their crew.
